CENTRAL HINDI DIRECTORATE The red colour emblem of Central Hindi Directorate (CHD) is a flower with thirteen petals with two leaves. The petals carry one letter from each of thirteen languages of Bharat. The centre of the flower has two concentric red circles surmounted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘अहं राष्ट्री संगवाणी वसूनां’ meaning ‘I am the Medium for Nation’s Conversation’ and supported by its name in Devanagari. It represents Hindi playing a central role as an Official Language of Bharat.

NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR MINORITY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS The circular seal of National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) has an open book, a nib of a pen crested by a flame and surmounted by seven stars. These are ensconced by a blue circular border on which its name is inscribed. The book represents education, knowledge, learning and wisdom; the nib refers to freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence; the flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power and the stars refers to the minority religions in Bharat.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED STUDIES The circular seal of Indian Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS) has the ‘Dharmachakra’ or the ‘Wheel of Dharma’ from the national flag with twenty four spokes. Its border is inscribed with its name in Devanagari and English and its motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानमयं तापः’ (Verse 1.1.9, Mundaka Upanishad) meaning ‘Tapas is in the Nature of Knowledge’. 

AUROVILLE FOUNDATION The orange colour circular emblem of Auroville Foundation is a five petalled lotus representing the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo.

COMMISSION FOR SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL TERMINOLOGY The hexagonal emblem of Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT) has a green square ‘वि’ written in ten Indian languages in white and ‘SK’ in black to represent science, knowledge and words. It is crested by its acronym in Devanagari and supported by its English acronym. All these are ensconced by an hexagon with green outlines. The colour green denotes freshness, growth, perpetuity and nature. The hexagon is one of the strongest shapes and structures which nature has conceived. This shape stirs intuition,cooperation, connection sympathy, communion and reciprocal actions.

BHARTIYA SHIKSHA BOARD, HARIDWAR The circular emblem of Bhartiya Shiksha Board, Haridwar (BSB) has motifs of a rising sun supporting a tree of two humans and is placed on an open book. These are ensconced by a light blue colour circular border, which is inscribed with its name in Devanagari and English. Below the seal, on a banner, its motto in Sanskrit ‘आ नो भद्राः क्रतवो यन्तु विश्वतः’ (1.89.1, Rig-Veda Samhita) meaning ‘May Auspicious Works, Unmolested, Unimpeded and Subversive (of foes), Come to Us from Every Quarter’ is inscribed.

NATIONAL BOOK TRUST OF INDIA The red circular emblem of National Book Trust of India (NBT) has an open book placed inside a circle from which the tree of knowledge grows. Below the circle its name ‘NBT.India’ is written in brown and red. At the bottom its motto in Sanskrit ‘एकः सूते सफलम्’ (Meghdoot, Kalidasa) meaning ‘Everything from one’ or ‘Everything in one’.

MAHARSHI SANDIPANI RASHTRIYA VEDA SANSKRIT SHIKSHA BOARD, UJJAIN The circular seal of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Sanskrit Shiksha Board, Ujjain (MSRVVP) has red colour Sri Yantra with eight pointed star placed inside a square with three outlines and is ensconced with an yellow circular border. The border is inscribed with its name in Devanagari and its motto in Sanskrit ‘यत्र विश्वं भवत्येकनीडम्’ (22.9, Yajur Veda) meaning ‘Where the Whole World Meets in a Single Nest’. Sri Yantra represents the goddess in her form of ‘Shri Lalitha’ or ‘Tripura Sundari’. Four of the triangles point upwards, representing ‘Shiva’ or the masculine. Five of these triangles point downwards, representing ‘Shakti’ or the feminine. Thus, the Sri Yantra also represents the union of masculine and feminine Divine.

BOARD OF PRACTICAL TRAINING (EASTERN REGION) The blue colour seal with cyan background of Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region) (BOPTER) has a screw gear wheel housing an electrical transmission tower and holding the motifs of a factory and an enlightened human on an open book with a technical professional walking over. These motifs are ensconced by a circular blue border bearing its name and its year of inception within a gear wheel. Its motto ‘Technically Yours’ is written at the bottom. The gear wheels represent interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, timing, synchronisation, order and structure.

NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING SCHEME (NORTHERN REGION) KANPUR The emblem of National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (Northern Region) Kanpur (NATSNR) has an orange mortarboard hat surmounted by a blue colour partial gear wheel with its acronym written in between. Its name is written around the gear wheel and its motto in Sanskrit  meaning is placed at the bottom. The mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational equality, achievement, tradition and rights of passage and the gear wheel represents, efficiency, interconnectedness, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure.

BOARD OF APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING (WESTERN REGION) MUMBAI The golden circular emblem of Board of Apprenticeship Training (Western Region) Mumbai (BOATWR) has a gear wheel housing its acronym and its name. The gear wheel refers to interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, timing, advancement, synchronisation, order and structure and the golden colour denotes wealth, prosperity, power, prestige and achievement.

BOARD OF APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING (NORTHERN REGION) KANPUR The circular emblem of Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region) Kanpur (BOATNR) has a monogram of ‘AT’ ensconced by a gear wheel inscribed with its name in Devanagari and English. These are depicted in Indian National Tricolours. The gear wheel refers to timing, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, order and structure.

NATIONAL BAL BHAWAN The emblem of National Bal Bhawan is an abstract motif of a happy child in red colour. The red colour symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.

CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION The cyan-coloured circular emblem of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has an open book supporting a traditional lamp ensconced in a circular border inscribed with its name in Devanagari. Below the seal, on a banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘ meaning ‘असतो मा सद्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Evil Lead Me to Good’ is written. The lamp refers to light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom and cyan symbolises sky, hope and spring, peace, tranquillity, calmness, relaxation and emotional balance.

CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY The logo of Central Institute of Education Technology (CIET) has the emblem of National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) with its name written on the right. The circular emblem of National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has a trio of intertwined swans crested by its motto in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’ and supported by its initials at the bottom. The letter ‘E’ of its initials is depicted as a pair of books. The design is said to be based on a relic from the third century BCE, which was found in Raichur district, Karnataka. The swans symbolise research and development, training and extension mandates of the NCERT. Swans are sacred and are symbols of knowledge, education, grace and beauty.

CENTRAL TIBETAN SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION The yellow and orange emblem of Central Tibetan School Administration (CTSA) has a traditional lamp cresting Buddhist emblems of Dhvaja and Padma with a background of a glowing sun supported by an open book and a banner. The banner is inscribed with the name of the School. The traditional lamp refers to light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity the colour yellow denotes happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity and the colour orange denotes energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.

KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA SANGATHAN The emblem of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has a rising sun with its golden rays resembling twelve flying birds supported by an open book in the National Tricolour. Below the book its motto in Sanskrit ‘तत् त्वं पूषन् अपावृणु’ (15, Shloka, Isavasyopanishad) meaning ‘O Pushan, that I, Truth’s devotee’ and at the bottom the name of the institution is written in Devanagari. The rising sun refers to life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the flying birds refer to joy, prosperity, sun, magical powers, freedom, hope, new opportunities, power, confidence and innovation ; the open book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom and the colour gold  symbolises to wealth, prosperity, power, prestige and achievement.

Its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्याधनम् सर्वधर्म प्रधानम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge is the Supreme of All Religions’ is written at the bottom in red.

NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SAMITI The emblem of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has a pair of students holding an open book surmounted ‘WiFi’ symbol and supported by a computer and five lamps in green colour. These motifs are supported by a pair of laurels and surmounted by its name in Devanagari. Its motto is written in Sanskrit ‘प्रज्ञानं ब्रह्म’ meaning ‘Wisdom is the Brahman’.  The laurels refer to ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

ALL INDIA COUNCIL OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION The circular emblem of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) is an orange gear wheel housing a traditional lamp, supporting its initials in red sans serif bold capitals and its motto in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’. Its name surmounts these in circular form. The traditional lamp represents light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.

INDIAN COUNCIL OF PHILOSOPHICAL RESEARCH The logo of Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) is a monogram with its initials in red denoting an inquisitive eye and supported by its initials and name in black.

DIMA HASAO AUTONOMOUS TERRITORIAL COUNCIL The abstract circular logo of Dima Hasao Autonomous Territorial Council (DHATC) has blue mountains housing the initials of the Council, year of its establishment and its motto ‘Vanguard of the Tribals’ with a colourful tree sprouting from it referring to the growth and prosperity. The motifs are ensconced by its name and place ‘Haflong, Dima Hasao’. The mountains represent the geography of the region.

KARBI ANGLONG AUTONOMOUS TERRITORIAL COUNCIL The circular seal of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial council (KAATC) has a motif of mountain range with rising sun written over with ‘Justice-Equality-Justice’ supported by five dots with the year of establishment at the bottom. These are ensconced by a circular border with outlines, which is inscribed by its name and place. The mountain range and the sun refer to the geography of the Karbi Anglong territory. 

NATIONAL MISSION ON CULTURAL MAPPING The circular seal of National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM) has a glowing red sun placed inside a red circle forming the background for the letter ‘सं’ in white referring to ‘संस्कृति’ meaning ‘Culture’. The sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.

INDIAN COUNCIL OF SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH The emblem of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) is in the form of a red column created by the monogram using its initials and supported by its name in black.

NATIONAL MISSION FOR MANUSCRIPTS The emblem of National Mission for Manuscripts has a palm leaf manuscript titled ‘विज्ञनमुपास्व’ meaning ‘Worship Knowledge’, which is surmounted by its name in Devanagari written as an arch and supported by its name in English.

AMDAVAD MUNICIPAL CORPORATION The circular seal of Amdavad Municipal Corporation has motifs of the city’s heritage buildings, namely Teen Darwaza, a lamp post of Jama Masjid and Swaminarayan Temple; a factory and a wheel. Its motto in Gujarati ‘ઉધોગ સ્વાશ્રય સેવા’ meaning ‘Industry Security Service’ is placed above the wheel. These are ensconced by a circular border on which its name is inscribed in English and Devanagari. At the bottom, on a banner its initials in Gujarati ‘અ. મ્યુ. કો’ is placed.

AHMEDABAD SHOPPING FESTIVAL The word mark logo of Ahmedabad Shopping Festival (ASF) has its acronym written in experimental typeface in transparent colours with overlapping segments supported by its name in black. Its tagline ‘Something for Everyone’ is placed at the bottom.

NATIONAL CULTURAL FUND The word mark logo of National Cultural Fund (NCF) has its initials written in red sans serif bold capitals supported by its name in black.
