NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HYDROLOGY The emblem of National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) has its initials in outline placed within flowing water and a wave of water in a circular shape. Its name is written around the pictorial in Devanagari and English. It is supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘आपो हिष्टा मयोभुवः’ (Shloka 1, Āpaḥ Suktam) meaning ‘O Water, Because of Your Presence, the Atmosphere is so Refreshing’.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HOMOEOPATHY The green colour circular emblem of National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH) has an inverted equilateral triangle housing the motifs of Staff of Hermes crested by a lotus with the words ‘Aude Sapere’, with the borders of the triangle bearing the Latin words ‘Similia Similibus Curantur’ meaning ‘Like is Cured by Like’. The triangle is superimposed by a circular border on which the name of the Institute is inscribed. Below the circle, on a banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘शरीरमाध्यं खलु धर्मसाधनम्’ taken from the dramatic poem called Kumarasambhavam by Mahakavi Kalidasa. It means a ‘Healthy body is the means of Fulfilment of Dharma that is duty’. The Staff of Hermes refers to medicine and medical profession and the lotus refers to purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.
