SRI VENKATESWARA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES Alleviating human suffering has been a part of dedicated services of Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams to mankind. The T.T.D. has launched a monument, as a blessing from the Lord by opening Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, a sophisticated super specialty hospital at Tirupati. SVIMS was conceived in the year 1986 on the lines of AIIMS, New Delhi and the foundation stone was laid on April 18, 1986 by Late Sri. N. T. Rama Rao in Tirupati. This Institute became a university in 1995 within a short time of establishment. Its emblem has the motif of Lord Venkateswara of Tirupati ensconced by a circular banner bearing its name and place. It is supported by a banner carrying its motto in Telugu. These are supported by two serpents entwined around the caduceus represent ‘Stalk of Hermes (Mercury)’ of Greek mythology. TIRUMALA TIRUPATI DEVASTHANAMS Tirumala Tirupati Devastahnams ( TTD ) is an independent trust which manages Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh and other temples. The Tirumala Venkateswara Temple is the most visited religious center in the world. It is also involved in various social, religious, literary and educational activities. TTD is headquartered at Tirupati and employs about 16,000 people. The emblem of TTD has Lord Balaji in red colour crested with the golden Vimanam of the temple. Sacred Conch and Sri Chakra are depicted on the left and right sides of the Lord Balaji respectively in green colour on the temple walls. All these are ensconced in a green circle is the name of the trust on a white border.
