NAGALAND UNIVERSITY Nagaland University, the thirteenth Central University was established based on the Act of Parliament of India and received the assent of the President of India on October 20, 1989 as The Nagaland University Act 1989 (No. 35 of 1989) and came into force as notified in The Gazette of India Extraordinary Part-II Section-1 in October 1989 published by the Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department), New Delhi. Its logo in yellow ochre, red, blue and black has a pen supported by an open book denoting the tools of writing, reading, creating and learning. In the background is a traditional Naga textile representing its craft and heritage is crested by a Naga headgear. These are ensconced by an inverted horseshoe border which carries the name of the university on top and a twin folded banner bearing its year of establishment and its motto in Latin ‘Labor et Honor’ meaning ‘Labour and Honour’.
