MAA SHAKUMBHARI UNIVERSITY The red and pink emblem of Maa Shakumbhari University (MSU) has a circle with green outline houses the motifs of an open book, a gear wheel, an electronic circuit, water, a pair of laurels, monogram of its acronym and its year of establishment. This circle is placed on a pink lotus with 8 petals. These are ensconced by a red circular border, on which its name is inscribed in Devanagari and its motto in Sanskrit ‘तेजस्विनावधीतमस्तु’ (Dialogue between Nachiketa and Yamacharya, 19, Canto 3, Part 3, Katha Upanishad, Krishna Yajur Veda) meaning ‘May our Study be Vigorous and Effective’. The gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the open book represents education, knowledge, learning and wisdom; the electronic circuit represents science; the laurels symbolise ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the water denotes purity and the source of lif
