SARDAR PATEL UNIVERSITY
SARDAR PATEL UNIVERSITY Sardar Patel University was established by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of the then Bombay Province in December 1955 and was recognised under 2f of the UGC Act in October 1968. The tree in the crest is the historic mango tree where the founders of this seat of learning started their activity and the rising sun behind the tree represents the light of learning that is being spread by this rural centre of education. The Sanskrit dictum ‘शीलवृत्तफलं श्रुतं’ in the form of crest presents the ideal ‘Character and Conduct are the Fruits of Learning’. This aptly describes the great personality Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel after whom the place and the university are named.
