RANI CHANNAMMA UNIVERSITY BELAGAVI Rani Channamma University, Belagavi (RCUB) has been established in the year 2010 by the Government of Karnataka by effecting an amendment to Karnataka State Universities’ Act 2000 by upgrading the erstwhile Karnataka University Kittur Rani Channamma Post Graduate Centre at Belagavi. It is named after the eponymous queen Rani Channamma of Kittur, the first woman freedom fighter of India. The emblem of the university has an orange coloured open book supporting a flame of light and holding a black silhouette image of Rani Channamma with a rising sun a s backdrop. The emblem is crested by a its name written in Kannada and at the bottom of the emblem its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्वान् सर्वत्र पूज्यते’ meaning ‘The Learned are Worshipped Everywhere’ is written.
