MADURAI MEDICAL COLLEGE (MMC) The emblem of Madurai Medical College (MMC) features a Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents crested by a fish and supported by a banner inscribed with its motto ‘Seek Learn Serve’ and ensconced by a golden circular border inscribed with the name of the college and its place. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession. It originates from the story of Asclepius, who was revered by the ancient Greeks as a god of healing and whose cult involved the use of snakes. The fish refers to the erstwhile Pandya Kingdom of Madurai. The colour gold symbolises wealth, prosperity, power, prestige and achievement.

MADRAS MEDICAL COLLEGE (MMC) The emblem of Madras Medical College (MMC) features the Staff of Aesculapius crested by a by raising the right hand with the palm facing outward at shoulder height, fingers pointing up entwined by a pair of snakes featuring a pair of wings. The name of the college and its year of establishment of the college are written in Tamil and English around the Staff. On a banner, placed below the seal the motto of the college ‘Learn to Heal’ is inscribed. The Staff refers to medicine and the medical profession.

MARY MATHA COLLEGE (MMC) The emblem of Mary Matha College (MMC) features a motif of a scenery consisting of mountains, blue sky with white clouds and birds, and green earth, crested by a gopuram and supported by flames, an open book and a Cross. The scenery is ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the motifs of a dancer, a transmission tower, a DNA structure and a flying pigeon. An orange circular border inscribed with the name of the college surrounds this assemblage. On a panel supporting this seal, the motto of the college ‘Education Integration Sublimation’ is written. At the bottom, on a yellow banner, the tagline of the college ‘Committed to Excellence’ is inscribed. MUZAFFARNAGAR MEDICAL COLLEGE Muzaffarnagar Medical College is promoted by Fateh Chand Charitable Trust. Muzaffarnagar Medical College (MMC) is offering courses in medical science leading to the degree of MBBS. Its emblem is an orange squircle with its acronym ‘Cmm’ as a monogram in white, light blue and violet colours. It is supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्वाणी स्वास्थ्य मूलम्’ meaning ‘Health is the Root of Everything’. On the top right corner is the Rod of Aesculapius (also called Asklepios), the ancient mythical god of medicine. Asklepios may have been a real person who was renowned for his gentle remedies and humane treatment of the mentally ill.
