MAHATMA GANDHI CHITRAKOOT GRAMODAYA VISHWAVIDYALAYA (MGCGV) The emblem of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV) features a pair of wooden footwear (padukas) referring to Mahatma Gandhi, placed inside a circle formed by a rising sun and a semi-circular gear. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विश्वं ग्रामे प्रतिष्ठितम्’ meaning ‘The Whole World is Contained in One Village’ is inscribed in the circle. An ear of wheat is placed above the footwear. The Padukas or footwear centered in the emblem represents spiritual heritage, humility, and dedication to grassroots service. It honours the ancient culture of Chitrakoot and evokes the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Rama. The Wheat Ear represents agriculture, rural livelihoods and food security. The gearwheel symbolises technology, industry and vocational skill development. MAHATMA GANDHI CHITRAKOOT GRAMODAY VISHWAVIDYALAYA The emblem of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV) has a crown of wheat supported by the footwear of Mahatma Gandhi with a rising sun in the background. These are supported by a partial wheel of gear, in the counter of which its motto in Sanskrit ‘विश्वं ग्रामे प्रतिष्टितम्' meaning 'The World is Established from the Village' is inscribed. The crown of wheat symbolises agriculture and village produce; the pair of footwear of Mahatma denote that the university follows in the footsteps of his ideals; the rising sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity and the gear wheel denotes interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure.
