VANITA VISHRAM WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY Vanita Vishram Women’s University (VVWU) is the first private women’s university of Gujarat approved by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat in 2009. It was established in 1907 by Shri Atmaram Pandurang Turkhud. Its emblem is in the form of a silhouetted in woman with a mortarboard hat in brown colour forming the background with its tagline on the face in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’; an open book with a base supporting a flame and rising sun with rays, which are supported by a pair of laurels on sides and its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विध्या या विमुक्तये' meaning ‘That is Knowledge, which Liberates’ at the bottom.
