DRAVIDIAN UNIVERSITY The Dravidian family of languages, which includes more than twenty seven tongues, is the most ancient living language family of the world. The Government of Andhra Pradesh established the Dravidian University in 1997 at the tri-lingual junction, Kuppam in Chittoor District through a Legislature Act of Andhra Pradesh and conceived as an interstate institution. The emblem of the university is designed to indicate its main objectives and ideals. The open book symbolises knowledge accessible to all. The popular maxim ‘Knowledge is Power’ found at the top of the open book indicates supreme place given to knowledge. Lotus is a symbol of the seat of learning and prosperity and the blossomed lotus symbolises various facets of knowledge. The lighted lamp with four wicks is indicative of the destruction of ignorance and emergence of light and liveliness from all sides paving the way for learning and progress.
