SWAMI VIVEKANAND UNIVERSITY Swami Vivekanand University (SVU) was established by an Act of Madhya Pradesh State Legislature and notified in its official Gazette as The Madhya Pradesh Niji Vishwavidyalaya (Staphana Avam Sanchalan) Tritiya Sansodhan Adhiniyam (Act No.44 of 2011- 31 December 2011). Its insignia in yellow and dark red is in the form of a shield that has a portrait of Swami Vivekanand placed on a globe with a double pointed blue arrow going around. This motif is placed in a yellow circle bordered with red stars. The name of the university is written around the circle and at the bottom of the shield its place ‘Sagar’ is written. On a dark red and gold banner across the shield, its motto in Sanskrit ‘आत्मनो मोक्षार्थ जगद्विताय चः’ meaning ‘For the Liberation Self and Both Worlds’ is written.
