VIKRAM UNIVERSITY Vikram University was established in Ujjain on March 1, 1957. Shri Ranchod Lalji Dhabai donated the land for it from Barnagar. The brown colour emblem of the university has a pair of outward facing lions from the Ashoka Pillar holding a lotus on water, which supports an open book, above which the tower of the Mahakal temple of Ujjain with a light wheel and halo behind and crested by its name and place are plced. At the base of the emblem, its year of establishment is inscribed. These are ensconced by an arching border similar to arches of the Sarnath. At the bottom, a banner carrying its motto in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’ is placed.
