NORTHEAST UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) is a football club that competes in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), the premier football league in Indian football. At the advent of the ISL, the Club, led by actor/producer John Abraham, secured the Northeast franchise to represent the region, which is the hotbed of footballing talent in the country. Thus, on April 13, 2014, the Club, which represents the seven sisters and one brother of the Northeast, was conceived. The crest of NorthEast United FC was designed keeping the ethos of the Club in mind. It features 8 stars at the top, representing each of the 8 Northeastern states. INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE The Indian Super League (ISL) is India’s unrivalled football championship which kicked off on October 12, 2014. The inaugural winners of the league were ATK FC, while Chennaiyin FC were the winners of the second season. The league is co-promoted by Reliance, Star India and supported by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). India’s leading industrialists and celebrities from sports as well as the Indian film industry have heavily invested in the league’s eleven franchises based in the following cities: Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Goa, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Jamshedpur.
