VISVESVARAYA NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, NAGPUR Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology in the country. The Government of India conferred on the Institute, the Deemed to be University status (under University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)) from June 26, 2002. Its circular emblem is divided into four quarters, with a torch held by a hand in the middle. The first quadrant has a pair of meshing gears, the second has a book, the third has a bridge on a river and the fourth has an electricity transmission tower. The name and place of the institute is inscribed along the border of the circle. A banner at the bottom has its motto in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Actions’ is written.
