LOKBHARATI UNIVERSITY FOR RURAL INNOVATION The circular emblem of Lokbharati University for Rural Innovation (LURI) houses the motifs of a waterbody, rising sun and clouds and a sailboat, with a flying bird bringing new ideas and its place. These are ensconced by a circular border on which its name and its motto is inscribed separated by a pair of traditional lamps. The Sanskrit motto ‘अविद्यया मृत्युं तीर्त्वा विद्ययाડमृतमश्नुते’ (Verse 11, Ishopanishad) means ‘Ignorance Crosses Beyond Death and the Knowledge Enjoys Immortality’. The swan is the harbinger of new and fresh ideas and solutions, the sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the sailboat denotes journey and adventure and the lamps symbolise light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
