INSTITUTE OF GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES INDIA Institute of Good Manufacturing Practices India, (IGMPI) registered as a non-profit society with Government of India recognised by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, accredited vocational institution of Ministry of Education, Government of India and approved by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) presents unique and interactive platform. GMP is an essential element of industries like pharmaceutical, cosmetic, Ayurveda, biotech, homoeopathic, medical device and food manufacturing. The logo of IGMPI has a globe superscribed with its acronym in tones of light blue. The ‘I’s are depicted like capsules and its tagline ‘Enabling >quality production' is written at the bottom.

DETECT ADULTERATION WITH RAPID TEST The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has recently brought out a manual entitled ‘Detect Adulteration with Rapid Test (DART)’. This manual focuses on some common quick tests for detection of food adulterants at the household level. The purpose of the manual is to present common methods that are available for the detection of food adulterants generally found in India. The manual is meant for household use, with the aim of creating awareness and educating the consumer about food adulteration and food safety. Its emblem has a laboratory flask in which green shoots of a plant looking like a happy person are placed, meaning a reliable test or tests for consumers of food items to detect adulteration. Alongside its acronym is written in blue and its name at the bottom.

FOOD SAFETY KNOWLEDGE ASSIMILATION NETWORK

FOOD SAFETY KNOWLEDGE ASSIMILATION NETWORK FSSAI has established the Food Safety Knowledge Assimilation Network (FSKAN). This is a system of network of organisations with the aim to facilitate a scientific cooperation framework by the co-ordination of activities, the exchange of information, the development and implementation of joint projects within the Food Authority’s responsibility. Its logo has a network of five symbols namely, test tube for testing; atomic structure for comprehensive study; plant for edible items; a microscope for examination and a lens for scrutiny and analysing. Its acronym and name are placed inside the network.

FOOD SAFETY TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

FOOD SAFETY TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) is a training and capacity building program initiative by FSSAI for training of food handlers on food safety and food safety special requirements, incorporating good hygiene practices and good manufacturing practices. The food safety basic, food safety advance course and food safety special course are in line with the schedule 4 requirement of FSSAI. The word mark logo of FoSTaC is written in uppercase and lowercase extra bold sans serif in blue colour, below which its name is written. This is supported by the strips of Indian tricolour.

FOOD SAFETY CONNECT PORTAL

FOOD SAFETY CONNECT PORTAL In order to secure National Food Safety and to bring each citizen onboard to share their concerns regarding food safety violations, this portal allows a consumer to share their concerns, know their rights, track Food Business Operators (FBOs) License and Registration Certificate authenticity and view related articles/videos on food safety. As a consumer, one has certain rights with regards to the food and food products he purchases. She also has a redressal mechanism that helps him. The Food Safety Connect Portal is available at foscos.fssai.gov.in/consumergrievance. The logo of FosCo portal has an interesting pictorial logo, which is circular. It has two leaves supporting a rising sun inside a circle, it is surrounded by three different persons joining together in three different shades of green. The three persons represent food business operators, consumers and the regulatory agency (government).

INDIAN FOOD CULTURE

INDIAN FOOD CULTURE Indian Food Culture (IFC) is a collaborative project by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) along with other government organisations, celebrity chefs, food historians, columnists, food bloggers and street food associations, to curate, share and popularise knowledge on Indian food culture and engage people to make more informed food choices. The key initiatives of this project are: i. Developing a National Recipe Archive and ii. Creating standards and benchmarks for: 1. Clean street foods hubs; 2. Regional food festivals and 3. Food trails. Its emblem has a sixteen petalled lotus drawn like a 'rangoli' holding an orange circle having its name written in a Devanagari looking typeface, in which ‘o’s are treated as cut vegetable and tomato and ‘l’ like a stem of cereal. On the border around the circle, its tagline ‘Let’s Bring the Goodness Back!’ is written.

ONE NATION ONE FOOD LAW To ensure transparency, consistency and predictability of the business environment, the food regulatory ecosystem has to be based on the principle of One Nation, One Food Law. This requires two things - a nationwide law plus consistent implementation of this law in every part of the country. A uniform national law, the Food Safety and Standards Act, is now in place. However, despite a single nationwide Act, implementation across individual states and UTs remains fragmented and inconsistent. FSSAI has concentrated its efforts in 6 major areas: 1. Establishing globally benchmarked food product standards; 2. Consistent enforcement of the law across all States and Union Territories; 3. Facilitate hassle free food imports; 4. Assure credible food testing through a robust lab network; 5. Encourage globally benchmarked food safety practices and processes and 6. Large scale training and capacity building of food businesses. THE PROJECT CLEAN DRINKING WATER

THE PROJECT CLEAN DRINKING WATER The Project Clean Drinking Water (TPCDW) aims that consumers have the right to expect that the packaged drinking water or beverage they purchase is safe and of high quality. Consumers shall be able to verify the physical, chemical and microbiological safety of packaged drinking water or mineral water through the system developed for the purpose. The FSSAI's programme lets consumers to verify that the bottled drinking water or beverage they buy is safe and of excellent quality. The logo is designed so that the encircling of the fingers represents complete water purity, the translucent blue colour inside represents cleanliness (free of toxins and contaminants) and the serenity of each drop represents that each drop of water is safe for consumption. INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE FOR FOOD SAFETY AND APPLIED NUTRITION

INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE FOR FOOD SAFETY AND APPLIED NUTRITION The International Training Centre for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (ITCFSAN) is a state-of the-art training facility located in the premises of Export Inspection Agency (EIA) at Mumbai. The centre is established through an alliance between food regulatory bodies of India - viz. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Export Inspection Council (EIC) and Global Food Safety Partnership (GFSP), an initiative of the World Bank. Its logo is a monogram using the colours of Indian tricolour and its acronym. The ‘f’ is written in the same style as in FSSAI. Its name is written below the monogram.

SAFE & NUTRITIOUS FOOD AT SCHOOL

SAFE & NUTRITIOUS FOOD FSSAI initiative ‘Safe and Nutritious Food at School’ is a nation-wide campaign to help school children inculcate the habit of eating safe and eating right. The ‘Yellow Book’ is the resource book for this campaign and it will help children learn about safe and wholesome food in a fun and interactive way, through curricular and extracurricular activities. The Yellow Book has two volumes, one for primary and the other for secondary school students respectively. An excellent Teacher Training Manual is also available. These books and more can be downloaded from FSSAI’s Citizen’s Portal. The FSSAI’s Project SNF@SCHOOL is based on a three-pronged approach, at the school, state and national level. The logo of S&NF has a four petalled flower, each representing parent, student, school and teacher in magenta, yellow, violet and orange colours, with FSSAI forming its centre. DIET FOR LIFE FSSAI has initiated Diet4Life or Diet for Life to help people understand about metabolic disorders. It provides a comprehensive platform to parents, healthcare professionals and parent support groups to adopt the right approach towards Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEM) management. FSSAI has entered into a partnership with professional organizations, healthcare professionals and corporations to address the challenge that plagues a small section of our society. You can get more information regarding the above at diet4life.fssai.gov.in/index.html. Its pictorial logo has a joyful boy and girl emerging from a pair of green leaves in the backdrop of sun. Alongside tis ‘Diet 4 Life’ is written in red and green.

REPURPOSE USED COOKING OIL

REPURPOSE USED COOKING OIL Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO) is an initiative by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). During frying, several properties of oil are altered, Total Polar Compounds (TPC) are formed on repeated frying. The toxicity of these compounds is associated with several diseases such as hypertension, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, liver diseases. In order to safeguard consumer health, FSSAI has fixed a limit for Total Polar Compounds at 25 percent beyond which the vegetable oil shall not be used. FSSAI is implementing an EEE Strategy (Education, Enforcement, Ecosystem) - to divert used cooking oil from the food value chain and curb current illegal practices. Its green colour logo uses its acronym in sans serif font with the ‘O’ depicted as a symbol of recycling with a drop of oil inside the counter. At the bottom the name is written.

BLISSFUL HYGIENIC OFFERING TO GOD Blissful Hygienic Offering to God (BHOG) is an initiative put forth by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to encourage Places of Worship (PoW) to adopt and maintain food safety and hygiene as well as convey food safety messages through such places to the people to follow as responsible citizens. It encourages places of worship to adopt and maintain food safety and hygiene in preparation, serving and sale of prasad along with training of food handlers for basic food safety and hygiene. Its emblem in red colour has a silhouette image of Hindu, Christian, Sikh and Islamic places of worship supported by its acronym in lowercase. Below that its name is written in reverse.

EAT RIGHT INDIA

EAT RIGHT INDIA FSSAI has embarked on a large-scale effort to transform the country’s food system in order to ensure safe, healthy and sustainable food for all Indians through the ‘Eat Right India’ movement.The tagline ‘सहि भोजन बेहतर जीवन’, thus, forms the foundation of this movement. The Eat Right India logo represents a healthy ‘Indian thali’ (plate) to ensure a balanced and wholesome diet comprising all food groups in the right quantity for good health. Each colour in the logo represents a food group and its corresponding nutrient category that is required by the body. The size of its arc represents the proportion of that food group to be consumed for optimum health of the body. The green leaf represents responsible and environmentally sustainable food production and consumption to protect the health of the planet. FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS AUTHORITY OF INDIA The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been established under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 which consolidates various acts orders that have hitherto handled food related issues in various Ministries and Departments. FSSAI has been created for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. Its five coloured logo has its acronym in italics in dark blue and the horizontal stroke of ‘f’ extended in orange to form the top border with a dot for ‘i’ in brown dot symbolising a fruit and a green leaf. The letter ‘i’ which is bold in orange symbolises freshness. The logo is underlined in green colour.
