JHARKHAND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY The emblem of Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) has the map of the State of Jharkhand placed inside a gear wheel supported by a traditional lamp and surmounted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is placed inside a white circle. The circle is ensconced by a red border with blue outline, which carries its name in Devanagari and English. The gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity and the colour red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.
