NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY GOA The National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) is a premier technical Institute of the region was established in the year 2010. The emblem of this institute is dominantly blue and circular with a white border. The border carries its name in Deavanagari and English along with its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये' meaning ‘True Knowledge Liberates’. Inside the circle in cyan background a Florence Nightingale oil lamp with flame is placed surrounded by a sprocket wheel. The oil lamp represents the dedication and selfless work of nurses and in this case by the Institute. Nightingale’s dedication remained steadfast even after the war was over. She returned to London and put up the first nursing school where she trained several nurses to have the same dedication and compassion that she always had. Because of her, the once nursing profession common among old women and nuns has now become a highly reputable profession.
