INDIA TEA Counterfeit tea is a challenge faced by the tea industry. There is much more Darjeeling tea on the market each year than is actually produced. The mechanism for protecting origin-specific goods is called a geographical indication or appellation. The Indian has a mark of authenticity issued by the Tea Board of India. The logo for Indian tea has a silhouette of a tea leaf picker with the typical basket with tea leaves, hung from her head and resting on her bag, with big eyes and bigger ear rings supported by its name ‘India Tea’ at the bottom. This is ensconced in a black bordered rectangle and supported by its tagline ‘World’s Gold Standard’. The emblem is strong, direct and typical of India with excellent visibility.
