KARNATAKA ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION

KARNATAKA ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION The circular emblem of the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) houses an electric transmission tower; a two pan beam balance and eight bolts of lightning. These are ensconced by a circular banner with purple outlines, inscribed with its name in Kannada and English. The bolts of lightning represent electric power and authority; the transmission tower represents electricity and the two pan beam balance denotes balance decisions and directions.

KARNATAKA STATE POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD The circular cyan colour emblem of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has a globe referring to earth with layers of atmosphere, water and the soil with 'ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ’ and ‘Karnataka’ written in between. The colour cyan symbolises all the elements of nature, sky, hope and spring, peace, tranquillity, calmness, relaxation, emotional balance.

SWACHHA SANKERNA

SWACHHA SANKEERNA Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department (RDWSD) is working towards ensuring sanitation and providing clean drinking water to the rural areas of Karnataka. It administers the Swachha Sankeerna project, Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBMG) Karnataka and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Karnataka. The emblem of Swachha Sankeerna has two greenish ‘S’s forming a flower supported by its name and the name of the unit -Waste Management Unit in green and black.

JALOTSAVA

JALOTSAVA Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department (RDWSD) is working towards ensuring sanitation and providing clean drinking water to the rural areas of Karnataka. It administers the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Karnataka (also known as Mane Manege Gange). Many drinking water programmes were also introduced earlier, currently Mane Manege Gange (JJM Karnataka) is being implemented. It is branded as Jalotsav in Karnataka with a tagline ‘Mane Mane Gange’ Its circular emblem in bluish green colour has a house with a open water tap supported by a wave of water in bold strokes. Its name and tagline are written below the emblem.

KARNATAKA POWER CORPORATION LIMITED Karnataka was the first state in the country to conceive and set up a professionally managed Corporation to plan, construct, operate and maintain power generation projects in the State. Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL), since its inception in 1970 has grown steadily with initial installed capacity of 746 MW to 8738.305 MW . The present installation comprises 5020 MW of thermal power, 3679.75 MW of hydro power, 4.555 MW of wind power and 34 MW of solar power, with 370 MW of combined cycle power on the verge of commissioning. Its emblem is a depiction of a hydro power generation unit supported on sides by flashes of power. At the bottom its name is written.

KARNATAKA BANK LIMITED

KARNATAKA BANK LIMITED Karnataka Bank Limited, a leading 'A' Class Scheduled Commercial Bank in India, was incorporated on February 18, 1924 at Mangaluru, a coastal town of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka State. The bank took shape in the aftermath of patriotic zeal that engulfed the nation during the freedom movement of twentieth century India. Its logo is a pictorial and a wordmark in a purple background. The pictorial is a simple South Indian ‘kolam’ or rangoli of six pointed star with a dot in the centre. A hexagon is one of the building blocks of life and one of the principal governing patterns dominant in the natural world from honeycombs to the centre of snowflakes, the hexagon is everywhere. It is one of the efficient shapes to build and considered strong and secure. The colour purple is an unusual colour for a bank logo and that makes this bank stand out among other banks. The wordmark is written in simple but crish sans serif type.

KARNATAKA GRAMIN BANK

KARNATAKA GRAMIN BANK Karnataka Gramin Bank with its head office at Ballari under the sponsorship of Canara Bank came to existence on April 1, 2019 as per the gazette Notification of Government of India No.852 dated February 22, 2019 with amalgamation of two RRBs namely Pragathi Krishna Gramin Bank (Sponsored by Canara Bank with Head Office at Ballari) and Kaveri Grameena Bank (Sponsored by State Bank of India with Head Office at Mysuru). The logo of this bank is in the form of a circle and its components - Leaves represent agriculture and signifies prosperity; Diverging leaves signify our expanding base and growing support to agriculture and clean environment; The circle formed signifies the wholeness and inclusive growth; Blue colour represents trust, loyalty, integrity and responsibility and Yellow colour represents optimism, success, confidence, youthfulness and fresh energy”. Its motto is ‘Vishwasada Pratheeka, meaning ‘Symbol for the Faith/Trust’.

KARNATAKA SOAPS AND DETERGENTS LIMITED Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) is an Indian company, owned by the Government of Karnataka, that manufacturers personal care products including Mysore Sandal Soap. The Government Sandalwood Oil factory was established by the Maharaja of Mysore Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wodeyar and Diwan Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah in the year 1916 at Mysore, to extract sandalwood oil from sandalwood. The high quality sandalwood oil with British Pharmacopoeia was introduced to the world by the Government Soap Factory, Mysore. With the idea of utilizing the available natural sandalwood oil for making soap in the home State of Mysore. Sri S.G. Shastri, who was a qualified industrial chemist, was sent to London for an advanced training on soap and perfumery technology. Sri S.G. NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KARNATAKA, SURATHKAL National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (NITK) Surathkal is located in Mangalore City, Karnataka State, India. The Institute was established as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in 1960 and upgraded as National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. The emblem of NITK is a shield gear wheel having its acronym of name and a banner with its tagline 'तत्पूजा कर्मचारिवलम्' meaning ‘Work is Worship’ in English, Hindi and Kannada. Below these, an aeroplane, a ship, a power cable tower and river bridge. The border of the shield bears the name of the institution and its place.

UNIVERSITY OF MYSORE

UNIVERSITY OF MYSORE The University of Mysore was established on July 27, 1916. It is the sixth oldest in the country and the first in the state of Karnataka. Also, in a sense it is the first university of the country to be established outside the limits of British India. The university was founded as a result of the efforts of the benevolent and visionary Maharaja of erstwhile Princely State of Mysore His Highness Shri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar – IV (1884-1940) and the then Diwan Sir M. Visvesvaraya (1860-1962). The University emblem is adapted from the Royal Emblem of Mysore. KARNATAKA POLICE

KARNATAKA POLICE Police in Karnataka were called by various names in different regions. After initiation of policing, they were initially called Thoti, Talwar, Umbalidhar, Kattubidi, Neeraganti etc. The police primarily with policing used to do other jobs entrusted to them. Mysore State was the predecessor to Karnataka State, which was created on 1st November 1965. Sri. L. Rickets was appointed as first Inspector General of Police. During the rule of Maharajas of Mysore, the policing existed in different variants. Hukumnama or Kandachara was issued for policing during the rule of Maharaja Mummudi Krishna Raja Wodeyar (1799-1811) at old Mysore region under the British rule, when Sri. Poornaiah was Dewan. The soldiers belonging to Maharaja’s infantry were entrusted with responsibility of policing, which European soldiers supervised. EMBLEM OF KARNATAKA The official Emblem of Government of Karnataka in India has a red shield in the centre, charged with a white two-headed bird, ‘Ganda Berunda’ and fringed in blue. Crested above it, four red-maned, yellow lions stand back-to-back facing four directions (only three are visible) on a blue circular abacus with a blue frieze carrying sculptures in high relief of a galloping horse on the left, a Dharmachakra in centre, a bull on the right and the outlines of Dharmachakras on the extreme left and right as part of Sarnath's Ashoka Pillar. The shield is flanked on either side by red-maned, yellow lion-elephant ‘Sharabha’ supporters (mythical creatures believed to be upholders of righteousness stronger than lions and elephants) standing on a green, leafy compartment.
