RANI RASHMONI GREEN UNIVERSITY The West Bengal Green University (Amendment) Bill, 2018 was passed in the Assembly on November 26 after the State Government had decided that the name of the West Bengal Green University (WBGU) be changed as Rani Rashmoni Green University (RRGU) in commemoration of the two hundred and twenty fifth birth anniversary of Rani Rashmoni. The emblem of the university in the tones of green has a light green nib, pages of an open book and three stars atop. Below these motifs its name and place are written. The nib of a pen symbolises freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence and the open book symbolises knowledge, wisdom and education. The three stars may represent the Orion Belt and these stars are considered a sign of protection and strength from the universe. The stars are also considered as a source of power and strength.
