The red colour emblem of Central Hindi Directorate (CHD) is a flower with thirteen petals with two leaves. The petals carry one letter from each of thirteen languages of Bharat. The centre of the flower has two concentric red circles surmounted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘अहं राष्ट्री संगवाणी वसूनां’ meaning ‘I am the Medium for Nation’s Conversation’   and supported by its name in Devanagari. It represents Hindi playing a central role as an Official Language of Bharat.
