DR. D. Y. PATIL VIDYAPEETH Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (DPU), Pune a Deemed to be University was established by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide its notification dated January 11, 2003. DPU offers academic programmes in the fields of medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, optometry, biotechnology, management, Ayurved, homoeopathy, design, allied health sciences, liberal arts and science and technology. The emblem of the university is a brown colour monogram of its acronym supported by two gold colour swooshes on the letter ‘D’. The colour brown symbolises earthiness, simplicity, stability, humility, warmth, reliability, endurance, timelessness and tradition and the colour gold denotes wealth, prosperity, power, prestige and achievement.
