COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), known for its cutting edge R&D knowledge base in diverse S&T areas, is a contemporary R&D organisation. CSIR has a dynamic network of 37 national laboratories, 39 outreach centres, 1 Innovation Complex and three units with a pan-India presence. Its emblem is a blue gear wheel with four spokes, a lamp of Florence Nightingale in the middle and its name on the wheel’s border in blue colour. The oil lamp and its yellow and orange flame refers to compassion, reliability and goodwill, all attributes significant to the practice of Scientific research.
