RAJA RAMMOHAN ROY LIBRARY FOUNDATION India was celebrating silver jubilee of independence in 1972. It was also the bicentenary year of the birth of Raja Rammohun Roy, a pioneer social reformer who had stressed the need for modern education for the progress of the nation. The year was also being celebrated as an International Book Year with the slogan ‘Books for All’. It was in May 1972, that Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF) was established by the Department of Culture, Government of India. Its oblong logo in dark blue colour has lotus spread out in circular form in the middle surrounded by a temple like structure placed within an oblong housing symbolising that books and knowledge are sacred and desrve reverence and worship.
