JAWAHARLAL INSTITUTE OF POSTGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH The circular emblem of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has a glowing sun in yellow and red supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सत्यं महाभेषजम्’ meaning ‘Truth is Great Medicine’ and surmounted by its Latin version ‘Veritas Curat’. A pair of green laurels and a Staff of Hermes support the motif. All these are ensconced in a circular border with blue outlines, which carries its name and place. The sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the Staff of Hermes denotes medicine and medical profession.
