NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN In 1957 the Government of India requested the Ford Foundation to invite Charles and Ray Eames to visit India. Charles and Ray Eames travelled to all parts of the country, meeting and talking to writers, craftspeople, architects, scientists, industrialists, educators and philosophers. On April 7, 1958, the Eameses presented the India Report to the Government of India. Based on the recommendations made in the India Report, the Government of India with the assistance of the Ford Foundation and the Sarabhai family established the National Institute of Industrial Design, as it was originally called as an autonomous all-India body in September 1961 at Ahmedabad. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT NAGPUR Indian Institute of Management Nagpur started its journey in the year 2015 under the mentorship of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. The Institute’s first batch of Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management commenced on July 23, 2015. IIM Nagpur shifted to its new 132-acre campus, situated at MIHAN, Nagpur, Maharashtra, in November 2021. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY PALAKKAD

Image
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY PALAKKAD IIT Palakkad was announced by the Government of India in 2014 and it began in the very next academic year, 2015-16. Its emblem designed by NID is an unique symbol that highlights the notion of synergy and dynamic inter-relationship between research, theory and practice in academics. Inspired from the (5,3) torus knot, the cyclic form rendered in a continuous single line symbolises the process of continuous evolution. The form also has a hidden question mark – representing curiosity. The subtle semblance to the form of a light bulb suggests enlightenment of knowledge, essential to dispel the darkness. The pentamerous elements are symbolic of the ‘pal’ flower. The white star in the centre stands for the illustrious graduates who aspire to make the world a better place. The colour palette is unique with the golden yellow representing the rising sun and its energy and the cool grey representing the propriety of science education.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY TIRUPATI

Image
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY TIRUPATI The logo of Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IITT) shows two layers of elements, the text in the foreground and a series of images in the background. The text layer carries the acronym in Roman script and the name of the institute in Devanagari script. Whereas the elements in the background stand complementing aesthetically and symbolically with the text in the foreground and forming an essential unity in the composition. Elements in the background are abstract images showing three human faces and an icon of the ‘trithiya nethra’ or the vertical third eye. The composition shows a scene of an ongoing conversation among the people discussing possibly about the element put between them that of the third eye. These graphically simplified elements are rendered using the combination of red and white vertical lines or bands inspired from the practice of adoring the walls of temple premises in South India.
