SRM INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST) is one of the top ranking universities in India. SRM was started as Florence Nightingale Primary School in 1969 in Chennai and the SRM Engineering College was launched in Kattankulathur in 1985. In 2002 UGC granted SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai comprising SRM Dental College, Ramapuram as deemed to be University under Sec. 3 of the UGC Act 1956. Its circular emblem with golden yellow border with a blue colour tree in blue background in the centre. It has a white banner at the bottom with its tagline ‘Learn. Leap. Lead’. The name of the university in capital letters in blue colour surrounds the tree. This is a formal and traditionally inspiring seal for an university.
