GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF INDIA
GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF INDIA The oval shaped emblem of Geological Survey of India (GSI) has the National Emblem of Lion Capital supported by a pair of crossed sledgehammers and a red banner bearing the National Motto in Devanagari ‘सत्यमेव जयते’ meaning ‘Truth Alone Triumphs’ and its year of inception. The name of the institution in English surmounts the motifs. All these are ensconced by a cyan oval border inscribed with its name in Devanagari and a pair of laurels. The sledgehammers represent mining, especially iron ore mining and the laurels refer to ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
