SURVEY OF INDIA The Survey of India (SoI) has a map of the subcontinemt of India with grid lines placed inside a circular border inscribed with its name in Devanagari and English. It is crested by the National Emblem and supported by a banner inscribed with its motto in Sanskrit ‘ आ सेतु हिमाचलम्’ meaning ‘From the Bridge (of Rameswaram) to the Himalayas’ and its year of inception. A lotus is placed above the banner referring to  purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.
