DRAVIDIAN UNIVERSITY

The Dravidian family of languages, which includes more than twenty seven tongues, is the most ancient living language family of the world. The Government of Andhra Pradesh established the Dravidian University in 1997 at the tri-lingual junction, Kuppam in Chittoor District through a Legislature Act of Andhra Pradesh and conceived as an interstate institution. The emblem of the university is designed to indicate its main objectives and ideals. The open book symbolises knowledge accessible to all. The popular maxim ‘Knowledge is Power’ found at the top of the open book indicates supreme place given to knowledge. Lotus is a symbol of the seat of learning and prosperity and the blossomed lotus symbolises various facets of knowledge. The lighted lamp with four wicks is indicative of the destruction of ignorance and emergence of light and liveliness from all sides paving the way for learning and progress. The word ‘Dravida’ in the scripts of the four major Dravidian Languages is a unifying interpretation of the coalescence of Dravidian culture.

DARSHAN UNIVERSITY The red and black emblem of Darshan University (DU) has an U-shaped shield housing the monogram of ‘DU’ and three stripes cut through its left top edge. BURDWAN UNIVERSITY Burdwan University is a State University which was established on June 15, 1965. The circular emblem of this university has a gear wheel with sixteen teeth holding the motif of a decorative column standing on a lotus pedestal and supported on either side by scroll designs. These are ensconced by a border on which the name of the university is inscribed in Devanagari and Bengali. The gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation, timing, order and structure and the decorated column signifies dharma and being virtuous.

GURUGRAM UNIVERSITY The emblem of Gurugram University (GU) has a yellow shield supported by a pair of laurels, crested by a flame and by a red banner below. The shield houses the motifs of rising sun, a pair of twigs,an open book, a globe, a human brain, a banyan tree, robot, WiFi symbol, picture of persons holding a trophy, its name and place and a bow and arrow. On the banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘बिद्या जीवनाये न तु जीविकाय’ meaning ‘Knowledge is for Life and Not for Livelihood’ is written.
