The Lord Krishna is revered as the epitome of love, wisdom and righteousness. He is the greatest teacher, who gave Srimad Bhagavad Gita to this world. As the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu He is the most adored child and the revered counselor. The name ‘Krsna’ or ‘Krishna’ means dark blue, black, dark and all attractive. He is also called Kannan, Vithoba, Jagannath, Bankey Bihari, Dwarkadheesh, Vasudeva, Gopal,Govind and by other names. He as a deity symbolises:
Blue Skin: The colour blue is the colour of the sky and the oceans, which are infinite and transcendental.
Covert of Peacock: The feather of peacock, which adores the Lord refers to beauty, grace and immortality.
Murali the Flute: The flute in the hands of Lord Krishna refers to the call of the divine and mellifluous music.
The Cow: The cows in the company of Lord Krishna refers to his role as protector and provider.
Butter: Lord Krishna’s love for butter refers to his sweetness and purity of devotion to God.
Padma the Lotus: The lotus, on which the Lord Krishna stands refers to his qualities of transcendence from desires and attachments.
Sudarshana Chakra: The discus or the wheel on his right hand represents the mind and creativity and it is also a weapon to destroy evil.
Panchajanya: The conch or shankh in his left hand is the fountainhead, which creates the five elements of earth.
