INDIAN ROADS CONGRESS

The emblem of Indian Roads Congress (IRC) has a five pointed star with a plane table, a spade and a pickaxe in the background and supported by a dial of compass and a banner with its year of establishment. All these are ensconced by a circular banner, which is inscribed by its name and motto in Sanskrit ‘सन्मार्गातू लोक सेवा’ meaning ‘Public Service in the Right Direction’. The star refers to perfect harmony among all things in life, with its points providing insight into how we can strive towards achieving this goal and the other motifs refer to roads and their construction. The equipment placed inside the emblem refers to road construction.
