The second highest civilian honour of Padma Vibhushan (Lotus Grandeur) medal produced in the Government of India Mint, Kolkata is made of toned bronze. It has a eight petalled lotus spread crested by ‘पद्म’ and supported ‘विभूषण’ is ensconced by an outline design based on square intersecting with rectangles in obverse and the National Emblem of the Lion Capital ensconced by an identical square based outline on the reverse. The lotus with eight petals refers to divine presence, purity, spiritual awakening, cosmic harmony, yogic chakras and Hridaya or Surya chakra with the Supreme Being at the centre.
