LIFE INSURANCE CORPORATION OF INDIA
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is an Indian central public sector undertaking headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is under the ownership of of Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The Life insurance Corporation of India was established on September 1, 1956, when the Parliament of India passed the Life Insurance of India Act that nationalized the insurance industry in India. Over 245 insurance companies and provident fund societies were merged to create the state-owned LIC. Its emblem has a burning lamp protected by both the hands and its tagline in Sanskrit ‘Yogakshemam Vahamyaham’ meaning ‘Their Prosperity and Welfare are Looked after by Me' is placed in an ellipsoid in white enclosure within a blue square patch. This is followed by its acronym ‘LIC’ in bright yellow patch. Below these is its name in Devanagari and English are placed. This logo is both attractive and formal at the same time.
