RANI CHANNAMMA UNIVERSITY BELAGAVI

Rani Channamma University, Belagavi (RCUB) has been established in the year 2010 by the Government of Karnataka by effecting an amendment to Karnataka State Universities’ Act 2000 by upgrading the erstwhile Karnataka University Kittur Rani Channamma Post Graduate Centre at Belagavi. It is named after the eponymous queen Rani Channamma of Kittur, the first woman freedom fighter of India. The emblem of the university has an orange coloured open book supporting a flame of light and holding a black silhouette image of Rani Channamma with a rising sun a s backdrop.  The emblem is crested by a its name written in Kannada and at the bottom of the emblem its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्वान् सर्वत्र पूज्यते’ meaning ‘The Learned are Worshipped Everywhere’ is written. The open book symbolises education, wisdom and knowledge; the flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power and the sun symbolises life, energy, power, positivity and clarity.

The name and place of the college is written around the circle. A purple laurel supports the seal. The mountains and river refer to the local topography of snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan mountain ranges; the lightning bolt symbiosis raw energy, power, enlightenment, and the sparking of knowledge; and the laurels represent a traditional laurel wreath, which symbolises academic triumph, victory and the pursuit of honour.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
