ASSAM SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY

The Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) was established by the Government of Assam under Assam Science and Technology University Act 2009. It aims to provide education and research in the fields of science and technology. The emblem of the university has an umbrella or parasol, a sacred Buddhist symbol representing the dome of the sky, which casts a protective shadow onto the earth bearing the name of the university in Assamese. Below this its acronym ‘ASTU’ in blue and red supported by an atom and gear is placed. Its year of establishment is written below the acronym and at the bottom, its motto in Sanskrit ‘विज्ञानमेव प्रगतिः प्रयुक्त्या कल्याणमश्नुते’ meaning ‘Science itself is the Progress that Brings Welfare through Application’ is written. All these are supported by its name written in semi circular form. The atom symbolises science and science education and the gera wheel denotes interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure.

XAVIER'S COLLEGE, DUMKA (SXCD) The emblem of St. Xavier's College, Dumka (SXCD) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of ‘IHS’ monogram within a sun, a traditional lamp and an open book supported by a yellow banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘To Enlighten and To Empower’. This assemblage is ensconced by a purple circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; sunburst with IHS is the Jesuit seal and it represents the name of Jesus. GIRIDIH COLLEGE, GIRIDIH The emblem of Giridih College, Giridih features a circle with four panels housing the motifs of a banyan tree, rising sun, a miner with a pickaxe and a range of mountains supported by a pair of stalks of grain.
