Agriculture University, Jodhpur (AUJ) was established on September 14, 2013 by the Government of Rajasthan under Agriculture University, Jodhpur Act 21 of 2013 to focus on holistic development of arid and semi arid regions of the state covering the districts of Jodhpur, Barmer, Nagaur, Pali, Jalore and Sirohi. The predominantly green circular emble of the university has a rising sun from the sand dunes supported by a pair of ears of corn. WIthin this it holds an open book, microscope, a tractor and a pair of gear wheels. The name of the university is written along the circular border in Devanagari and English. The year of its formation is written below the circle. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘कृषि वृत्ति अभीष्टपूर्णा’ meaning ‘Agricultural Endowment is Ideal’ is written on a golden banner at the bottom. The sand dunes denote the geography of the locale; the sun life, energy, power, positivity and clarity; the open book denotes education, knowledge and wisdom; the microscope denotes research, the tractor denotes field work and ears of corn represents agricultural production and fertility.
