ATAL BIHARI VAJPAYEE HINDI VISHWAVIDYALAYA |
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (ABVHV) was established on December 19, 2011 by Madhya Pradesh Act No. 34, 2011. The orange and red emblem of the university has a monogram using its Devanagari acronym in white colour placed on a red circle and circumscribed by a snake. These are ensconced by a circular border in orange colour with red outline bearing the name of the university in Devanagari and a pair of horns of deer and its year of establishment. At the bottom of this emblem on a red banner the motto of the university is written in Sanskrit ‘न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं पवित्रमिह विद्यते’ (Shloka 38, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘In this World, there is Nothing as Pure and Virtuous as the Pursuit of Knowledge’. The snake or Naga symbolises rebirth, death and mortality, due to its casting of its skin and being symbolically ‘reborn’ in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism philosophies. The horns of deer symbolises a connection to the supernatural, the Otherworld or the fairy realm. The colour orange symbolises energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness and the colour red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.
