ASSAM WOMEN'S UNIVERSITY

The Assam Women’s University (AWU) has been established by an act XXII of 2013 of State Legislature of Assam as a State University. The emblem of the university motif of a woman's head in orange colour and forehead with a red colour bindi, supported by an open book symbolising knowledge, education and wisdom. Below these its acronym is placed. These are ensconced in an oval border with blue outlines, which bears its name in and its motto in Sanskrit ‘आप्नोति प्रज्ञया सत्यम्’ meaning ‘Attaining Wisdom Through Truth’. The colour orange symbolises energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.

The mountain range and landscape reflects the mighty Shivalik hills and Himalayas that surround the Udhampur region in Jammu and Kashmir.
