Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) (PEC) started in Lahore as Mugalpura Engineering College in 1921. The institute became Deemed University in 2003 through a MHRD notification and rechristened as PEC University of Technology in 2009. The emblem of the university is its acronym created using yellow sans serif bold font. The top horizontal stroke of ‘E’ is tilting upwards and is in red colour indicating inquisitiveness and ready to go higher. Below the acronym its motto ‘Explore Innovation Excel’ is written in red. The emblem is trendy, bold and attractive. The colour yellow symbolises happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity and the colour red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
