Acharya Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology (ANDUAT) was established by the Uttar Pradesh government through the Uttar Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 1958 (Uttar Pradesh Act XLV of 1958), which was published in the Gazette (extra-ordinary) on November 29, 1958. The circular emblem of the university has a four petalled lotus and a sun in the centre with motifs of agriculture and technology on and around it ensconced by two layers of borders bearing its name and place in Devanagari and English. The circle is supported by a pair of laurels on the sides. On a white banner at the bottom of the emblem, its motto in Sanskrit ‘अन्नं हि जीवानां ज्येष्ठम्’ meaning ‘Food is the Prime thing for Life’ is inscribed. The sun life, energy, power, positivity and clarity; the lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty and the laurels symbolise success, victory and achievement.
