PUNYASHLOK AHILYADEVI HOLKAR SOLAPUR UNIVERSITY

Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University (PAHSU) is a State University of Maharashtra State, established on August 1, 2004. The emblem of PAHSU speaks about its intention, mission and vision. It shows the path to tread, the holistic synthesis of spirituality, science, technology, commerce is finely embedded in it to make it an organic symbol. The message communicated reveals the universal truth that science and spirit, spirit and commerce, commerce and science. Every symbol has geo-specific as well as universal context. To anyone from this region, the central figure resembles Lord Siddheshwar, the local deity, but for others it connotes the presence of a seer, calm and serene. Scientific thinking is represented by revolving electrons, which helps to explore new things and reminds one about the infinitesimal-ness in this vast universe. The inner urge which leads us to salvation through knowledge is aptly represented by the symbol of energy ‘flame' in the form of a traditional lamp. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया संपन्नता’ meaning ‘Endowment of Education’ is placed on a banner at the bottom of the emblem.

MAULANA AZAD NATIONAL URDU UNIVERSITY Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1998. The logo of the university has two strokes of orange and green forming the shape of ‘U’ in tricolour and has a ‘Ashoka Chakra’ at its top. This is supported by an open book on which images of an atom and a burning candle are depicted. Its name is written in Urdu atop the emblem on a banner; written in Devanagari on a banner above the logo and in English at its bottom. The book represents knowledge and education; the atom denotes science and the candle denotes light and guidance to discover the unknown.

SANT GAHIRA GURU VISHWAVIDYALAYA The circular emblem of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (SGCG), formerly known a s Sarguja University has a circular border in orange and green and has its name, place and motto inscribed in Devanagari and supported by a pair of tribal ornaments. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’. Inside the border, motifs of a drum, supported by a pair of horns; an open book topped by a red sun ; a banyan tree and a pair of crests of millets are placed. The banyan tree symbolises strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity; the sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the open book denotes knowledge, education, wisdom and learning and horns, drum and crests of millets denote tribal culture and food.

The motto in Urdu ‘زندگی شمع کی صورت ہو خدایا میری’, which translates to ‘O God! May My Life Be Like That of a Candle’. The chinar leaf refers to Jammu and Kashmir, the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the lighted candle symbolises enlightenment and the removal of darkness (ignorance), representing how knowledge guides a student's path and spreads light into society.
