Established in 2009, the Children's University is a State University located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The university conducts research, education, training and extension services for creating the right environment and systems to facilitate development of children and is the only children's university in India. The emblem of the university in yellow, orange, red and brown has motifs of an open book turning into a lotus supporting a hand holding a child on a background of glowing rays ensconced by red circular borders. The outer border carries the tagline ‘Every Child Matters’. This is surmounted by the name of the university and supported by a banner on which its motto in Sanskrit ‘सत्यम् ऋतम् बृहत्’ (12.1.1, Atharva Veda) meaning ‘The Truth, The Right, The Vast’ is inscribed. The open book denotes education, knowledge and wisdom; the hand holding a child is child protection and nurturing; the glowing sun is the new dawn and hope, the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the colour yellow symbolises happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity; the colour red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration; the colour orange denotes symbolises energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness and the colour brown symbolises earthiness, simplicity, stability, humility, warmth, reliability, endurance, timelessness and tradition.
