The emblem of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU) houses the motifs of a rising sun from the hills, a swan on water, an open book, its year of establishment and its name. The yellow circular border is inscribed with its name and place in Devanagari and its motto in Sanskrit ‘श्रद्धावाँल्लभते ज्ञानं तत्परः संयतेन्द्रियः’ (Shloka 39, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘He who has Mastered his Senses, is Exclusively Devoted to his Practice and is Full of Faith, Attains Knowledge’. The rising sun symbolises light, universal prosperity and path for growth; the swan is the vehicle of Goddess Saraswati and it is sacred and is a symbol of grace, knowledge, beauty symbolises and the open book denotes education, learning, knowledge and wisdom.
