GURU RAVIDAS AYURVED UNIVERSITY |
The insignia of Guru Ravidas Ayurved University (GRAUP) has a yellow square holding two concentric circles in tones of orange supported by a rising sun forming the backdrop. The circle in the middle houses its name and place in Punjabi; its acronym; its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’. The next circle circumscribing the middle one bears its name and place in Devanagari. Its name in English surmounts the second circle and the name of its place supports it. Its tagline in Sanskrit ‘सोऽयमायुर्वेदः शाश्वतः’ meaning ‘That is the Eternal Ayurveda’ is placed on a banner at the bottom of the square. This banner is supported by a pair of Staffs of Caduceus or the Staff of Hermes with a pair of wings and entwined serpents which represent medicine and medical profession. The colour yellow symbolises happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity and the colour orange symbolises energy, vitality, ativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.
