The emblem of Govind Guru Tribal University (GGTU) has a circular border on which the name of the university is inscribed in Devanagari and two swastikas supporting a ‘havan kund’ or sacred fire pit. This border is housing the motifs of a lighthouse on sea supported by a bow and arrow, its year of establishment and an open book. Below this circular seal, on a brown banner, its motto in Sanskrit ‘तेजस्विनावधीतमस्तु’ (Dialogue between Nachiketa and Yamacharya, 19, Canto 3, Part 3, Katha Upanishad, Krishna Yajur Veda) meaning ‘May our Study be Vigorous and Effective’ is inscribed. The bow represents self-improvement since it requires mastery to use; the arrow symbolises lightning, destiny and knowledge; the lighthouse symbolises hope and security; the open book symbolises learning, education, knowledge and wisdom and Swastika symbolises symbolises the sun, prosperity and good luck. The circular or square shape of the havan kund symbolises the cyclical nature of life, death and rebirth and the ashes from the fire represent the transformative cycle, emphasising the impermanence of existence.
