The circular emblem in tones of blue of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has the motifs of a Chinese fishing net, a fishing trawler, a fish, a conch and a prawn placed on a circle holding sky and ocean. This circle is ensconced by a three dimensional border, on which its name, its year of establishment and its motto in Latin ‘Fiat Piscis’ meaning ‘Let it be Done’ is inscribed. The motifs represent the educational domain of the university. Below the circle, an open book symbolising education, knowledge and wisdom is placed. The colour blue signifies water, river, ocean, and other water bodies. It also signifies serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.
