The orange and blue emblem of Desh Bhagat University (DBU) has a nib of a pen divided into three vertical parts denoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship, with its acronym ‘DBU’ written on it. An orange flame is placed above the nib and its year of inception is placed below the nib. Its name is written in blue on its right and below this its motto is written in orange. The nib of a pen symbolises freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence; the flame of fire denotes enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the blue colour symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour orange symbolises energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.
